Mobile app
Where a Backhouse app stands, and how to work from your phone today
There's no Backhouse app to download yet. One is being built as a companion to texting rather than a replacement for it, and this page will say so when there's something to install.
In the meantime your phone already runs Backhouse two ways.
Text your assistant
This is the mobile experience today, and it's the one the app is being built around. Your assistant sits in your messages next to everyone else you work with. Ask it something between showings, send a voice note from the car, photograph a signed page and let it file the page to the right transaction. See Voice and text.
None of that changes when an app ships. Texting isn't a stopgap for a missing app, it's how most of the work gets handed off.
Open Backhouse in your phone browser
The web app works on a phone. Your transactions, contacts, listings, documents, and chat are all there and laid out for a small screen. Reach for it when you need to read a full record or scroll a document instead of asking a question.
What an app adds
Texting is good for handing work off. It's slower for looking something up, and "when does the option period end on Maple" is a question you shouldn't have to wait on a reply for. An app closes that gap. Your transactions, contacts, listings, documents, and full chat history, one tap away and readable without a round trip.
The second piece is the message thread itself. On an iPhone, a reply that needs something from you can arrive as a card you act on right there, instead of a paragraph you have to go somewhere else to resolve.
iPhone comes first. Android is on the list behind it.
Why it isn't out yet
Wrapping the website in an app shell would have shipped months ago. It also wouldn't have earned the space on your home screen. An app worth installing opens instantly, holds up on the bad connection at an open house, and behaves like the rest of your phone. That takes longer to build, and that's the tradeoff being made.
When
No date to give you. When it's ready to install, this page will say so, and your assistant will tell you if you ask it.
