Send your first message
Text, email, or talk to your assistant for the first time
Backhouse is designed to feel like working with a real assistant. You can reach it through multiple channels.
Text
Send a text message to your assistant's number. You'll find it in the setup guide on your home screen, where you can text it with one tap. Try something like "What's on my plate today?" or "Draft a follow-up for the Smith transaction."
Forward an email to your workspace's Backhouse address, or cc it on a thread. It looks like yourworkspace@backhouse.ai, and you'll find yours in Settings → Email, where tapping it copies it. You don't need to connect your inbox to use it.
Your assistant reads what you send, files any attachments to the right transaction, and the email shows up in Email alongside everything else. Forwarded mail has no single owner, so everyone in your workspace can see it.
Only mail from you, your teammates, and your contacts is kept. Anything else is quietly ignored, so forward from the address on your Backhouse account, not an alias.
Voice note
Send a voice note via text. Backhouse will transcribe it and take action. Perfect for when you're driving between showings.
Chat
Use the chat interface in the app to have a conversation with your assistant. Ask questions, request drafts, or get a status update on any transaction.
